What's on this month
Events in Scarborough
There are two popular events later this month. From the 22nd of July to the 25th, Scarborough Fayre returns to the town centre with a mixture of street entertainment, music, juggling, stiltwalking and the Continental Market. Starting a day later down around the Harbour but also running until the 25th is SeaFest, an international maritime festival which focuses on Scarborough's seafaring past and which involves live music, exhibitions, visiting vessels and yacht races.
Cinema
At The Hollywood Plaza at the moment, you can see 'Get him to the Greek', a comedy in which a record company executive has just three days to force a reluctant rock legend into a comeback. Starring Jonah Hill and Russell Brand. Also showing is 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse'. The third chapter in Stephenie Meyer's phenomenally successful series. If you're into the Twilight series, you'll be there.
Meanwhile, the Futurist is showing another successful follow on film with 'Shrek Forever After’, which features the voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz.

Theatre
Currently playing at the Stephen Joseph Theatre until the 31st of July you can see 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', Shakespeare's comedy in which the course of true love doesn't run smoothly as four lovers become entangled in a world of magic, mischief and fairy kings and queens.
From the 8th of July to the 4th of September, there is a treat in store as the Stephen Joseph Theatre Company stage an updated version of Gilbert and Sullivan's 'The Mikado'. In this version Japan is replaced by the Titipu Cricket Club but all the original songs are there as is the satire on capital punishment. Having seen last year's production of The Pirates of Penzance, I will definitely be going to see this one.
Also at the SJT you can watch some of the best films on release. The films showing this month include 'Alice in Wonderland', 'Crazy Heart', 'Four Lions' and 'The Clash of the Titians'.
