What's on in July
Events in Scarborough
Continuing from June to the 7th of July there will be music and marching during the annual Scandinavian Music Festival, featuring marching bands of young people from Norway and all points north. Scarborough Fayre, a week-long event with street entertainment, a craft fair and a continental market, returns to the town centre from the 20th to the 26th of July. And over the weekend of the 24th to 26th Seafest takes place. This is a three-day international event celebrating Scarborough's maritime heritage and industry. There will be live music by the harbour, seafood cookery demonstrations and a firework display.
Cinema
At The Hollywood Plaza at the moment you can be scared out of your skin with Sam Raimi's horror film 'Drag me to Hell', in which a young woman desparately struggles to break free from an evil curse. Horror of a different type is available with the fourth part of the Terminator series, 'Terminator: Salvation', in which Christian Bale continues his fight against the robots in this dystopian tale. For some light relief you could always watch 'Ice Age3 - Dawn of the Dinosaurs', an animated adventure sequel with a feel-good factor.
Meanwhile at the Futurist, you can see the film 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen', a sequel which picks up the story of the original film two years on.

Theatre
At the Stephen Joseph Theatre you can see the SJT company in 'The Pirates of Penzance', a new adaptation of Gilbert and Sullivan's much loved musical, which adds a dash of Reservoir Dogs to the original story. Also in in July, there is a rare chance to see 'How the Other Half Loves' a revival of Alan Ayckbourn's classic farce, directed by the writer himself.
Also at the SJT you can watch some of the best films on release. The films this month include: 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona', 'State of Play' and 'Gran Torino'.

Shows
On 8th and 9th of July, at the Futurist, you will be able to see the English National Ballet's latest performance of 'Angelina Ballerina's Big Audition', which follows our young heroine as she prepares for a chance to join the Camembert Academy.
For lovers of traditional sea-side humour, there's a treat in store when the Chuckle Brothers return to the Futurist in 'Chuckle Trek - the Lost Generation'.
