chosen in consultation with students as part
of the `negotiated syllabus'.
skills areas
Teachers also focus on developing speaking,
listening, reading and writing skills. Speaking,
for example, is improved through discussion,
role-play, mini-presentations and
pronunciation activities. Students are helped
to read faster and enrich their vocabulary
through authentic texts. Writing for
communicative purposes, such as letters,
reports and essays, is often practised as
homework.

Grammatical structures are introduced and
reviewed according to the needs of students
when negotiating the syllabus.
